A Few Things to Consider Would Be
1
The proximity to where you live – you don’t want to have to spend a lot of time commuting to and from work.
2
The reputation of the company – don’t consider working at a company with a reputation of treating its employees badly.
3
Benefits the company offers – How much paid leave is offered, are you paid for sick days, if so, how many, etc.
4
Is there room for growth? – Do you want to climb the corporate ladder? If so, is there an opportunity to do so?
5
Would you be willing to relocate to be closer to the company you want to work with?
6
If you are thinking of working for a company because you have a friend or significant other there, think carefully about how this would impact your relationship, both with the person and the company.
These are just a few factors to consider.
So, you’ve looked at all the items above and have decided you’d like to work for Taco Bell. Now comes the question, How Old Do You Have to be to Work at Taco Bell?
Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
This is a federal law that was created to protect the rights of employees and generally has 14 years of age as the minimum age for employment. And anyone under the age of 16 is only allowed to work a certain number of hours.
Therefore, it is important to be aware that not all Taco Bell restaurants will employ you if you are under 16 years of age. This would vary from state to state, restaurant to restaurant, and whether it is a franchise-owned establishment or corporate owned.
How to Apply to Taco Bell?
Applying for a job is not complicated. You can either apply online at www.tacobell.com or in person. Once you have submitted your application, it generally takes about a week to get a response, this would either be via email, or the store manager would personally contact you via telephone to set a date and time for the interview.
Remember, if you have sent out applications, be aware of how you answer your telephone until you land a job.
You Have an Interview – Now What?
Preparing for an interview is very important. It starts with the clothes you wear, your general appearance and of course your answers to the questions asked. It is also a good thing to familiarize yourself with the company and its products, know when it started, the number of customers they have, and the locations.
Regarding the locations, it wouldn’t be necessary to list all of them; a general knowledge would work.
Clothes
Wear something business like – and by this, I don’t mean a business suit if you are applying for an entry-level position. Something like a smart pair of jeans or slacks with a button downed well-fitting shirt and dress shoes. Ensure that your clothes are clean and pressed.
General Appearance
Have a neat, clean general appearance, washed and brushed hair, clean hands and nails.
The questions that will be asked
These can, of course, vary vastly according to the manager, the location, and the position you are applying for.
However, with over 40 million customers dining each week in Taco Bell restaurants, you would most likely be asked how you function under pressure, therefore… Can you work in a fast-paced environment? This is important to consider; if you don’t like stress, you may want to reconsider working somewhere that will most likely have a lot of pressure.
Another question that often comes up is, why do you want to work at Taco Bell?
Answer this honestly, why do you want to work there? Think carefully about it. Having started in 1962, they are well known, and with over 7000 restaurants in the US, they are well established. Is this the reason you want to work there? Is it because a friend works there and is happy? Or have you looked at their mission statement and agree with it?
What skills do you have that would help you in this position?
This question is trying to find out if you are a suitable fit for the position you are applying for. Do you communicate well with people? Can you deal with conflict calmly? Are you well organized?
These are just a few examples of the skills you could mention. It’s a chance to ‘’sell’’ yourself, convince the interviewer that you are, in fact, the best person for this position.
However, it is never advisable to lie about your skills – this will put undue pressure on you, and of course, the truth will come out eventually, which will cause an issue in your workplace. Always be honest with your answers; it’s better not to get the job than to work somewhere that will not suit you. A lot of time is spent at work, and it’s important to be happy with your position and the duties you carry out.
It is also advisable to have questions on hand that you would like to ask the company/manager. This shows that you are invested in this interview and are thinking ahead.
A Few Things to Consider Include
1
Is your performance reviewed weekly, monthly, etc.?
2
How often are salaries reviewed?
3
Is there scope to move within the company?
4
How does the training take place, are you given a manual to read, does someone guide you? etc.
Don’t be afraid to ask about anything you need to know. It’s better to get the full picture up front than to go into a position or company not really knowing what is expected of you. You also need to know how the company will support you.

Final Thoughts
As I’ve already mentioned, for most states, you’ll generally need to be 16 years old to start working at Taco Bell. But some states will allow you to work at a younger age than that. However, if the state in which you live doesn’t allow 16 year olds to work in restaurants, you may need to wait until you are 17 or even 18.
As for the interview, giving the right answers will go a long way to securing the job. Confidence and giving clear, concise answers will most certainly make a positive impact. So why not practice with friends and family beforehand to get your confidence up. They can also give constructive criticism, which will help you improve.
Good luck with getting a job at Taco Bell and walk tall; you’ve got this!
