Top banking and finance CEO Cynthia Scott is Mosman born and bred and very proud of the fact that her great grandfather John Cansdell was one of the founding fathers of the suburb.

So although she is selling her Federation home of 25 years Cynthia is keen to remain in Mosman and downsize to something smaller.

“You can take the girl out of Mosman but you can’t take Mosman out of the girl,” she quipped.

Cynthia is a former CEO of Barclays Bank, chairman of Foxtel and former Telstra executive. Currently she is Australia-NZ CEO of the global financial tech company Zip Co, a global buy now, pay later company.

Her 1908 five-bedroom home in Orlando Ave was extended and renovated in 2005 then later further refreshed in 2019.

It has original Edwardian working fireplaces, high ornate ceilings with arches and kauri floors that have been matched in the newer part of the home that opens to the garden.

It has just come to market, through David Murphy Residential Mosman.

David has yet to set an auction guide but is expecting interest above $6m at its June 10 auction.

“I love to cook and entertain and designed the kitchen with that in mind,” Cynthia said.

So the six-burner gas cooktop is the most powerful domestic stovetop you can buy, there are double Neff ovens, an integrated fridge and freezer and stone benchtops.

Cynthia loves the big open-plan family and dining areas that open to the garden but also appreciates the fact there is a separate formal lounge and upstairs a large study or home office, ideal when raising three children.

“There is also an enormous amount of storage,” she said.

“Every possible space has been reconfigured for storage including an area behind a secret door halfway up the stairs where we keep our luggage.”

The cul-de-sac home set in easycare grounds is moments to the harbour foreshore, a stroll to shops and schools and the CBD is a ten-minute drive.

“The home has a lovely energy, is very quiet and has worked well from when the children were babies to adults. I really hope another family enjoys it for 25 years,” she said.

According to PropTrack, the median home price for Mosman is $5.09m.
